Big News: Alma García Named Fiction Editor at Huizache!
We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate the wonderful news that accomplished Latine/x author and La Sala collaborator Alma García has officially stepped into her new role as the Fiction Editor for Huizache. A longtime champion of the literary arts, Alma is highly regarded for her brilliant debut novel All That Rises, her prestigious Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers' Award, and her many years of dedicated service as a beloved writing instructor at Hugo House in Seattle. Her sharp eye for narrative structure and deep passion for storytelling make her the perfect visionary to lead this next chapter of contemporary fiction.
For those unfamiliar, Huizache is widely celebrated as the nation’s preeminent literary magazine dedicated to Latino/a and Latinx literature. Based out of El Paso, Texas, and supported in collaboration with the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), the journal serves as a vital, groundbreaking platform for prose, poetry, and translations that explore diverse cultural narratives. By providing a home for both established and crucial emerging voices, the magazine continues to enrich and shape the landscape of modern American letters.
